So I've uploaded shots of the animation project I finished in the Spring. It was a fun project, though I spent too much time on character design and backgrounds and not enough, uh, animating. The problem was I wanted to do this frame-by-frame, (we were using Flash, and also had the bone-tool at our disposal) except frame-by-frame takes a looooooong tiiiiiiiiiime. I finished, but its janky in some places only has key frames and simple tweens as a substitute for oh, a walk cycle. So I consider this a learning experience in budgeting time and learning Flash. I will finish it properly or so help me.
My interpretation of Rocky Raccoon was pretty straightforward with the lyrics, which you can look up anywhere: Rocky's girl has left him for another man, Rocky walks in to town for the sole purpose of beating this guy in a showdown, only to find that Dan is waaaay better than he is. Rocky stumbles back to his room, still determined to beat Dan, until he finds the hotel bible that you see in most hotel rooms. It doesn't specifically say, but it leaves the listener to imagine that Rocky's turning point begins with finding the Bible.
In my video, I depicted Rocky entering his room, knocking the Bible from his nightstand to make room for his gun, only later to come back to his room after his defeat, sinking to the ground in shame/pain/bitterness, and finds the Bible on the floor where he's sitting. Cut to Gideon, (Of 'Gideon's Bible' fame) leaving the Saloon after having checked out and leaving the Bible for the next person to check in...
I've explained it before that Gideon in this Anthropomorphic Tale is a Pigeon, since I found it fun to rhyme the two together. Then it occurred to me later that if Gideon is also a messenger pigeon then it all falls into place with him being a missionary of sorts, sending God's message through the Bible, or something. Had I made up this story all on my own I wouldn't have gone this route, being non-religious myself. But it was fun to tell the story anyway, the way the Beatles wrote it, and with my own interpretation in between.
